Mr. Takuya Kubota - CTO of mui Lab Inc.

What led you to look for a development partner?

When we entered a phase of business expansion, we faced a shortage of development resources. As a startup based in the Kansai region, it was not easy to secure suitable talent within Japan. We also considered options such as part-time or side-job engineers, but what we wanted was a deeper and more integrated partnership. As one of the options, we began exploring development partners outside Japan.

Among many companies, why did you choose SYP?

During our search, we visited several companies in Hanoi. We received various proposals and evaluated the companies from multiple perspectives. Among them, SYP stood out because their proposal most accurately reflected our requirements.

In fact, there was another vendor that received exactly the same overall evaluation score as SYP. However, when it came to making the final decision, the decisive factor was CEO Ngoc’s commitment and passion. We knew that the project would not always go smoothly, but we felt that we could trust this leader and this company. That made a significant difference in our decision.

How was it working with SYP throughout the project?

From the beginning, we expected communication to be the biggest challenge. Therefore, at the start of the project, SYP’s PM and engineers came to Japan and worked on-site to fully understand the requirements and align expectations between both sides. We also visited Hanoi at each major phase to hold thorough face-to-face discussions. This allowed us to quickly adjust course whenever issues arose.

SYP’s team members have strong technical capabilities. Once we shared the architectural direction, they were able to develop solid designs independently without requiring detailed step-by-step instructions. This was one of the key factors that helped the project progress smoothly.

We were also truly grateful that when issues arose just before release, the SYP team responded quickly and handled them even outside regular working hours and on weekends.

What results did the partnership with SYP deliver?

Although we encountered various difficulties during the project, we were ultimately able to successfully launch the system. Since then, SYP has continued to support us with operations and maintenance. By establishing this partnership, we have been able to focus and prioritize our internal development resources on the areas where our team can create the greatest value.

What are your expectations for the partnership with SYP going forward?

The software development environment continues to evolve. While keeping an eye on these changes, we hope to continue exploring the most effective form of partnership with SYP and build a relationship in which both sides can continue to grow together.
